KLIPSPRINGER

This was one of my better shots being uphill
through thick brush and about 130 yards away.
It was a quick kill with my 300 Weatherby.  This
animal shelters among the rocks and is a
suspicious and astute animal which makes it
difficult to hunt.  Lucky my tracker, Thomas, ran
up the hill to retrieve my animal and saved me the
effort.  (Believe me, it was a steep hill!)

The Klipspringer or Klipy as they are called is a
very small and hard to see unless on top of a rock.
It moves by great leaps and is an agile climber.
It lives in rocky terrain thus making it hazardous
to hunt.  It sights the hunter before the hunter
sights the Klipy, and it will remain motionless
until the hunter passes.  This is a trophy of a
true hunter because of its size and agility.  I
never could pick one out unless it was running.

This small animal has quills instead of fur, and
you must keep the skin wet so the quills won't
fall out if you want a good mount.  This will be
a full mount.
